Navigation links on sales pages

Should you put web site navigation links on your sales pages? Is it likely to affect conversions? What if your visitors need navigation options?
Only testing will tell for sure, but in theory—unless the additional links are designed to actually help the selling process—you should expect a drop in conversions.
